Patrick passed his road test on Tuesday, becoming a newly-licensed menace - I mean, driver - on the streets of Sacramento. The phone calls came almost immediately: do you think I could borrow your car to move my stuff from the apartment to my new place?
After six months of sharing with a couple (who got married on New Year's Day in Reno), Patrick finally admitted the rental arrangement wasn't working as planned. By good fortune, he was out of town visiting his grandparents when Tony signed the lease, so he was not a primary renter and was able to walk away from the apartment with no financial penalty. As of yesterday, he's now sharing a 3-bedroom house for less than he was paying for his share of the 2-bedroom apartment. It's still in the neighborhood and close to a bus route, but it's no longer in walking distance of our place.
So, how long will it be before he gets a car? And will he be able to afford the insurance? Stay tuned ...
